Children read literature with an open mind hopefully finding a way to relate to what they are reading. In order for this to happen children have to explore the different portals through literature such as fairytales, different characters and even non fiction books. Every book will lead a child through a different portal allowing different connections to develop.

Rumpelstiltskin book response
This story was very interesting. It was a fairytale I had never heard of before. I enjoyed the literature because not only did it have a very good story plot, but with the main character Rumpelstiltskin it is easy to see the basic story elements of protagonist, problem, antagonist, climax, and resolution through the literature. I felt the book was clear and it was a folktale that was appropriate and it caught my attention because I was always wondering what Rumplestiltskin was going to ask for in return if he would spin the straw into gold. The last time he goes to spin, he asks for the Queens first born child and it immediately grabbed my attention because thoughts started and I was asking questions what if he gets the baby? How will he know? Is it really possible, what will the queen tell the king? I felt that when reading this book I was able to follow along and gather questions from the story because I was interested. It was a great folktale and I would recommend it to anyone!
